Save 2nd Base™, Shirts for a Cause
May 9, 2011
Save 2nd Base™ sells t-shirts and hats in an effort to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. What sets them apart is their sense of humor. It is the same sense of humor their founder Kelly Rooney had when she designed shirts for a cancer walk. While Kelly lost her fight against breast cancer in 2006, her message is still being spread on the t-shirts and hats she started.

Save 2nd Base™ - Facing Cancer with Humor
April 29, 2011
The inspiration for Save 2nd Base™ is Kelly Rooney. Kelly is described on their website as a loving wife and mother of five young children. Rooney was Save 2nd Base™'s co-founders, Erin Dugery and Kelly Day's sister and friend, respectively.Kelly battled breast cancer for three years, and underwent countless surgeries, rounds of chemo, and radiation. Save 2nd Base™ Review & Giveaway
April 27, 2011
I was contacted by Save 2nd Base™ and fell in love with their Tee's and their support of such a bad cancer that affects many women. This company started because of the loss of Kelly Rooney who left behind a husband and her 5 children. The story of how the phrase Save 2nd Base™
came about (See below), just shows how much of a positive outlook Kelly had even in her illness. Kelly came up with the idea of the Save 2nd Base™ tee to wear to 2005 Race for the Cure. They were an instant hit with her group as well as many at the race! Thus, brought the idea of making more and selling a Save 2nd Base™ line. Since 2006 they have been able to donate more than $30,000 to the Kelly Rooney Foundation as well as others too.

Save Second Base™: Review & Giveaway
April 18, 2011
Breast cancer is something that runs in both sides of my family. It ultimately took my grandmother's life. When we can, we support every effort to eliminate Breast Cancer. We were walking for Susan G. Komen one year and all got a kick because my father had never heard of, Save the Ta Tas.
The saying is so catchy and clever. I have now come across another very catchy phrase, Save 2nd Base™.
Save 2nd Base™ company has now put their catchy phrase on shirts.

It's Baseball Season: The Perfect Time to Save 2nd Base™
Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.
-Steel Magnolias
In 2005 a small group of women were getting ready for the Breast Cancer 3-Day charity walk when they met to decide their team name. Their teammate, Kelly Rooney, a 42-year-old with five children and stage-three breast cancer, came up with a humorous play on words, and suggested their name be, Save 2nd Base™.
She designed a t-shirt for their team as they got ready for the walk. By the time the Breast Cancer 3-Day arrived Kelly was too weak to participate, but her teammates wore the shirts and were approached with great enthusiasm for their take on the old baseball euphemism.
